Books: Some print resources are on the trolley. You can also use the search icon at the top right of our online catalog to help you find other titles. Remember to look for keywords, other possible book resources and websites in the books on the trolley. For debate topics, log into our online catalog to search for the following SERIES:

Below are some sites about persuasive speech topics, how to write speeches and / or prepare for debates:
VSB LEARNING RESOURCES: Go to the Van Tech Library website ( vantechlibrary.org ). Under the HOME tab, select the large blue and white “Library Catalog” button to go to “Destiny Discover” (the library software). Log in at the top right using your student number and password. Scroll down to the Learning Resources “ribbon” and select the "SEE ALL" button to access all the resources available on the Learning Resources ribbon. Helpful resources may include:
- Canadian Encylopedia (searchable)
- CBC Curio / BBC Channel / National Geographic Channel
- CanCore (searchable)
- EBSCO HOST (searchable: make sure your search is "Full Text", limiters include date, type of source, etc.)
- Gale Power Search (searchable: make sure your search is "Full Text", limiters include date, type of source, etc.)
- Global Issues in Context (great for information on current world issues, e.g. Syria, global warming, child labour/ fracking. etc.)

There are several possible MLA9 citation generators for your Works Cited list, such as mybib.com , oslis.org , easybib.com , BibMe , Citation Machine or Citefast.com . Select Manual Entry mode when using a citation generator as this will also teach you how to read a citation. format your page using Times New Roman 12, double-spacing, hanging indents and alphabetical order.
